Intertaste implements HAI*QPM plant software in the Cloud

The Netherlands, October 2012 – Intertaste, a leading European manufacturer of soups, sauces, herbs and spices, has started the implementation of HAI*QPM. Intertaste works with HAI*QPM in the “Cloud” at the HAI*QPM data centre of Fujitsu. The enthusiasm for HAI*QPM was so compelling, that Intertaste decided to abort an ongoing project with a competitive solution, and alternatively decided to continue the project with HAI. The planned date for “go live” on 1 January 2013 is not affected by this switch.

Improved plant information

The HAI*QPM software is developed to present production- and quality information in real-time, including compliance against specifications, and OEE reporting. Consequently, any non-conformance in product quality or process conditions, is immediately visible. A wide range of production and quality reports, powerful performance metrics and statistics are directly available from the moment the system contains data. This enables Intertaste to dramatically improve their plant- & quality information needed for batch release and plant optimisation. The administrative burden of operators at the production line is reduced substantially and shop floor transparency improved.

Better, easier, faster and cheaper……

The ambition to improve production and quality information has existed for quite some time at Intertaste. To this end, they started an implementation of another software package, but this did not work out to their satisfaction. “When we investigated HAI*QPM, it became clear that this option was better, easier, faster and cheaper. After an impressive visit at one of HAI’s customers “the decision was easy to make”, says Fred Nijskens, QESH- manager at Intertaste Nijkerk.

The proof of the pudding…

HAI and Intertaste worked closely to create a ready-to-use pilot implementation in a few weeks time using an Intertaste-specific environment at the HAI*QPM data centre. This convinced Intertaste that HAI*QPM can be implemented in a short time. “I was impressed to see that, once the system was filled with data, we could immediately generate batch reports, release reports, compliance reports, shift reports, trend graphs, analyse correlations, calculate statistics and key performance metrics”, says Dirk van Loon, project leader ad interim at Intertaste.

SAP & Cloud

HAI*QPM is a cloud solution, developed on the SAP Netweaver Java platform, fitting perfectly in Intertaste’s corporate SAP strategy. Intertaste has chosen to work with the HAI*QPM data centre of Fujitsu, where HAI*QPM is made available for the HAI customers, sourcing the same application and sharing infrastructure and database to gain costs and performance advantages. A key advantage to this cloud solution is that all data is centralized and accessible over the web from any place at any time, and its use can be extended easily to other Intertaste production facilities.
